Sweetwater Creek Service Day
Sweetwater Creek State Park
Join the Georgia Conservancy on Friday, May 23 for a morning volunteer service project at Sweetwater Creek State Park in Douglas County.
Our volunteer group will be adding new blazes to some of the park’s most frequently used trails and removing debris and trash from areas along the creek.
Located just 15 miles west of Downtown Atlanta, Sweetwater Creek State Park is a beautiful 2,500-acre park within the Chattahoochee River watershed that features a recreational lake, cascading streams, river shoals, and the historical ruins of the New Manchester Mill, which was burned during the Civil War. Sweetwater Creek was also the birthplace of the Georgia Conservancy in 1967 and was one of the first places our nascent organization helped to protect.
When: Friday, May 23 // 8:30 AM – 12 PM
Where: Sweetwater Creek State Park // Meet at the Visitors Center (look for GC signs and our group by the flag pole) // 1750 Mt Vernon Rd., Lithia Springs, GA 30122
