Trail Chat with REI and The Georgia Outdoor Stewardship Coalition
REI Stone Mountain Boathouse // October 10 // 3 PM - 6 PM
This fall there will be a historic opportunity to create a permanent source of land and water conservation funding in the state of Georgia that could benefit your organization. The Georgia Outdoor Stewardship Amendment would constitutionally dedicate a portion of the existing sales tax on outdoor sporting goods without raising any taxes or creating new fees.
If passed, this funding would:
- Protect lands critical to clean drinking water
- Acquire and improve parks and trails for children, families and outdoor enthusiasts to enjoy
- Maintain and improve access to wildlife management areas and create new opportunities for hunting and fishing
- Support Georgia’s economy and job creation
Join REI and the Georgia Outdoor Stewardship Coalition for an informative social gathering at our Stone Mountain Boathouse on October, 10 from 3-6pm. This event is designed to educate participants about the amendment in an outdoor, active setting to set the tone for enhancing Georgia's outdoor spaces through this funding. Participants may choose to paddle, hike, or just hang out on our patio. Throughout all the activities, you will be able to ask Coalition representatives how the amendment could benefit your organization's mission. When you return to the boathouse you'll be treated to a light dinner and receive a toolkit so you can share information about the amendment with your constituents. REI is providing all the equipment and food for the event and there will be a cash bar on site.
We've invited a wide variety of stakeholders from the conservation, non-profit, social, recreation, manufacturing, and retail industries. We hope you can make the event but if you are unavailable, please encourage another representative from your organization to join us.
