Celebrating 20 Years of Blueprints
What a wonderful evening at The Stave Room at American Spirit Works! On September 25 at ecoBenefete, the Georgia Conservancy celebrated the 20th anniversary of its Blueprints for Successful Communities program and honored the Georgia Tech College of Architecture with the Distinguished Conservationist Award.

The College of Architecture has been at the forefront of efforts to promote sustainability in the fields of community planning and urban design through their partnership with the Georgia Conservancy’s Blueprints planning and research program. From crafting a sustainable future growth model for Moreland, a small Georgia town of 400 people, to tackling the arresting threat of sea level rise on Georgia’s coast through multi-year research and design studios, the Georgia Tech College of Architecture is helping shape a more sustainable Georgia.
The evening showcased a number of the Georgia Conservancy’s past Blueprints projects, as well as announced the undertaking of our most ambitious Blueprint to-date, the 100-Year Vision of Georgia. Georgia Tech Legacy professors Richard Dagenhart, Michael Dobbins and Randy Roark were recognized during the cocktail hour for their dedication to the Blueprints process and for leading a number of studios during the College of Architecture’s 18-year relationship with the Conservancy.
College of Architecture Dean Steve French accepted the Distinguished Conservationist Award on behalf of the College.
Atlanta Artist Kyle Brooks (BlackCatTips) and his wife Maria were also on hand to help guests provide their vision of Georgia in 100 years. Kristina Murray serenaded the crowd with her country crooning.
After ecoBenefete, guests were shuttled to the Under The Stars afterparty at the nearby SweetWater Brewing Company. Thanks to SweetWater for keeping the beer flowing and to Waffle House and Doggy Dogg ATL for providing the late night snacks. Thanks to All The Locals for providing the tunes!
