Internships / Long-Term Volunteer

The Georgia Conservancy counts on interns and long-term volunteers on a daily basis. Are you interested in bringing your unique set of skills to the Conservancy? If so, please contact Bryan Schroeder at bschroeder@gaconservancy.org or (404) 876-2900 ext 110.
Please see the listings below for more information on specific internship and volunteer opportunities. Most internships at the Georgia Conservancy last three months but can be extended. Due to the high number of applicants, we can not accept all those who apply.
Volunteer Job Descriptions
Winter-Spring 2012
Corporate Volunteer and Membership Program Intern
- Works with Vice President of Development, Membership Director and Development Assistant to foster and grow corporate volunteer program and support the Conservancy’s statewide membership program.
- Duties may involve communicating with corporate volunteer coordinators to determine interest in service projects and then coordinate and participate in those projects.
- Additional duties may involve supporting development team with membership campaigns, data management and our “gamification” membership drive.
- Opportunity to volunteer with Georgia Conservancy’s premiere trips program to places like Cumberland Island, Len Foote Hike Inn or Okefenokee Swamp on weekends will be made available, but not mandatory.
- Attend monthly volunteer leaders meeting and weekly staff meetings, if possible.
Interns will work in the Georgia Conservancy office and at service project sites throughout metro Atlanta.
Stewardship Volunteer
- Works with Vice President of Development and Membership Director to launch Georgia Conservancy’s gear bank.
- Monitors “Georgia Outdoor Stewards” Meetup group.
- Searches and posts select stewardship from trips across the state.
- Edits and posts photos and video captured on trips and events.
- Supports general development team activities.
- Supports conversion of Georgia Conservancy Guide to the North Georgia Mountains website.
- Attend monthly volunteer leaders meeting.
Volunteer will work in the Georgia Conservancy office, at service project sites throughout Georgia and tele-work from home. Opportunity to volunteer with Georgia Conservancy’s premiere trips program on weekends is available, but not mandatory.
Foundation and Corporate Grants Researcher
- Work with Vice President of Development and Development Associate to research new foundation and corporate funding opportunities using online resources.
- Access Georgia Conservancy’s foundation and corporation folders to uncover past opportunities.
- Vet opportunities so that only those with a high likelihood are initiated.
- Assist in grant writing, application and reporting process.
- Attend monthly volunteer leaders meeting.
Volunteer will work in the Georgia Conservancy office and tele-work from home.
