Regional Water Planning Councils:

The 10 water councils met for the first time May 1-14. The agenda included:

  • Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between the council members.
  • the Department of Community Affairs (DCA) and the Environmental Protection Division (EPD).Election of chairs and vice chairs.
  • An overview of the regional geography and resources.Water usage trends in the region.
  • An introduction to the population forecasts information.

Upcoming Regional Water Planning Council meetings:

Second round: June 11 - 24, 2009 (click here for a schedule of water council meetings)

Third round: September 14 - 25, 2009.

Fourth round: November 9 - 20, 2009.

Agenda Items for the Regional Water Council Meetings in June include: Population and education forecasts ; Finalization of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA); and An overview of the agriculture water demand forecasts, resource assessments, and the public involvement plan.

Remember, each of the Water Council meetings will have a public comment period so if you have a water issue that is important to you then be sure to attend and share your comments with this decision making body.
