FIRELIGHT, presented by REI and Whitewater Express
The Georgia Conservancy’s Stewardship Trips Program is all about bringing diverse groups of Georgians into our state’s most incredible natural places – from Cloudland Canyon in Northwest Georgia’s Cumberland Plateau to Cumberland Island National Seashore on our Atlantic Coast.
On October 24 we changed it up a bit as we ventured to Atlanta’s SweetWater Brewing Company with 400 of our closest friends. This adventure was Firelight!
Firelight is a celebration of our Stewardship Trips Program and the evening brings together Conservancy members, trip participants and those interested in learning more about the work that our program does to protect and explore Georgia.
The second annual Firelight was a fun-filled night and a tremendous success! How could it not be with SweetWater beer, a Waffle House waffle bar, delicious pies from Atlanta’s Pie Shop, cheese from Thomasville’s Sweet Grass Dairy, specialty soft serve from Jake’s Ice Cream, Preserving Place jams and Whynattee drinks – all Georgia-based purveyors of tasty food and drink!
All this to sounds of Georgia Conservancy friend and house band, Sailing to Denver.
When not reuniting with old adventure buddies, meeting new faces, learning about Georgia’s hidden treasures or dancing the night away, Firelight guests had the chance to bid on some incredible silent auction items that ranged from vacations in every corner of the state, goods from our friends at Patagonia and Columbia, and artwork from some of Georgia’s best folk artists.
REI also added some excitement for the evening with an incredible donated silent auction package that had guests rushing to drop their name in the draw.
The Georgia Conservancy would like to thank Firelight presenting sponsors REI and Whitewater Express, as well as sponsors Kanga, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Patagonia, Jones Day Environmental Group, Bigfoot For Wildlands, Butler Wooten Cheeley and Peak, Jones and Kolb Certified Public Accountants, and Delta Community Credit Union! Thank you to our food and drink sponsors Waffle House, Jake’s Ice Cream, Sweet Grass Dairy Cheese, Pie Shop, Coca-Cola Company, Whynatte, Preserving Place and Decatur Package Store!
Also, a huge thank you to our host committee!
