Current Issues TAG Develops a Protocol for Establishing Sediment TMDLs
back

The Georgia Conservancy and the UGA Institute of Ecology have released a white paper outlining a protocol for developing total maximum daily loads (TMDLs) for sediment in Georgia.

This document, prepared by a technical advisory group (TAG), identifies the best way to establish sediment TMDLs in the state, particularly in the Piedmont and Blue Ridge regions. It not only provides technical guidance but also serves as an example of what can happen using available tools and research when participants are committed to open dialogue and reaching consensus.

The group hopes that officials in other states can use the document to guide development of TMDLs in their areas.

Since then, the TAG has written a white paper outlining best practices for developing TMDLs for sediment. Click here to download a copy.
